A Louisville man is facing charges after he allegedly tried to abduct a woman on the University of Louisville campus Monday.
Thomas Hood, 20, was arrested early September 1 after police responded to a call about a man carrying a large kitchen knife outside the University Tower apartments at 2000 Unity Place. That is off South 4th Street and West Brandeis Avenue.
When officers encountered Hood, they noticed a large kitchen knife concealed in his pants.
The alleged victim, who works for the university, told police Hood was carrying a knife when he forcefully grabbed her arm outside the apartments, before chasing her into the building. She locked herself in the basement as Hood continued to try to get in, according to court documents.
The victim told police she was in fear for her life after noticing the subject grabbing ahold of a knife inside his pants.
Hood, a student at UofL, according to the arrest slip, was eventually chased away by an unknown Black male trying to help the victim. Officers caught up with Hood at the Louisville Hall dorm and arrested him.
Hood was arraigned September 2 on charges of attempted kidnapping and carrying a concealed weapon. The judge entered not guilty pleas on his behalf and set his bond at $25,000. A public defender was also appointed to represent him.
His next court date is scheduled for September 10.
