
Governor Andy Beshear announced Tuesday that the U.S. Small Business Administration has approved his request for disaster loans in response to the deadly crash of UPS flight 2976.
UPS 2976 bound to Honolulu, crashed on takeoff. The crew of three were killed as were eleven people on the ground. Two businesses were also struck by the plane.
The Economic Injury Disaster Loans will provide funding for businesses affected by the crash.
The crash, just south of the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, also caused extensive damages to businesses in the immediate area. Governor Beshear submitted a letter of request to the Small Business Administration Administrator on November 14, following a survey of the area by Louisville-Metro Emergency Management Services.
The office identified 57 businesses in the immediate crash area that sustained damages ranging from total destruction to significant contamination.
Eligible businesses in Bullitt, Hardin, Oldham, Shelby and Spencer counties can apply through the August 17, 2026 deadline.
