A former Louisville Metro Police officer took an Alford plea deal Thursday after he was indicted in May 2026 on theft and misconduct charges related to time theft allegations.
An Alford plea allows someone to maintain their innocence while admitting that the prosecution has enough evidence to convince a judge or jury to find them guilty.
Roberto Grider entered an Alford plea of guilty Thursday to theft by deception over 1,000 but less than 10,000 (false impression) and official misconduct (first degree).
Prosecutors recommended a one-year sentence, with sentences on both charges to be served concurrently. They also recommended pretrial diversion, with the number of years for the diversion period up to the judge’s discretion.
A Jefferson County grand jury indicted Grider earlier this year after the department found concerns related to the accuracy of his reported work hours.
Louisville Metro Police Department placed him on administrative reassignment in March, however, the department began Grider’s termination process after he was charged.
Grider is set to be sentenced November 10.
