A two vehicle accident interrupted traffic Wednesday morning (10/21) at the 98 mile marker on Interstate 65.
Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Joseph Overton was sitting in his patrol car conducting traffic safety protection for the construction crew inside a highway work zone when 46-year-old Tonia Young of Nashville, Tennessee fell asleep at the wheel of a 2015 Freightliner traveling south. The Freightliner crossed into the work zone and struck the rear of the patrol car. Young traveled south on the interstate and was stopped by members of the construction crew.
Overton and Young were not injured in the accident and both were wearing their seatbelts.
