
Muldraugh City Council met for their regular monthly meeting Monday evening with all council members present.
Joseph Scott inquired about the use of the gym on Tuesday nights from 6:30 until 7:30 for basketball practice for a group of Meade County boys ages 13-15. The council gave approval upon receipt of the group’s insurance and a wavier releasing the city from any liability.
Fire Chief Danny Dresel advised the council the new turnout gear and generator had been received and was in service.
Public Works Supervisor Anthony Lee told the council the smoke test of the sewer lines had been completed and the final analysis should be finished by mid December. Property owners, where problems were found, will be notified by letter around the first of the year explaining what needs to be done to bring their lines into compliance. The expense of any needed repairs will be the property owners responsibility. Lee also advised the council the city has 5 lines that needs major repair.
City Clerk Caroline Cline asked the council to approve $52 to purchase two banners to advertise the Down Home Holiday Shop which will be held Saturday, December 10, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the gym at City Hall. She advised 23 vendors have signed up for the event and there are few more booth spaces available.
Councilman Robert Mattingly recommended and the council unanimously approved a 5 member committee to investigate the possibility of starting a Citizens on Patrol for the city of Muldraugh. Those serving on that committee will be Mayor Joseph Noon, Police Chief Dale Harp, Councilman Robert Mattingly, Citizen Jetta Chancey and Citizen Woody Holston.
Mayor Noon advised the council the cost of the wall being built to block access to City Hall from the hallway of the building was approximately $250 higher than was approved at the previous meeting due to extra material needed to make the wall safe. The council approve the extra expense.
