Thousands of dollars in federal funding will boost Kentucky’s fight against opioid addiction.
Senator Mitch McConnell announced Wednesday the state is getting more than $706,000 from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration through the state Opioid Response Grant Program.
The money will be used to develop and expand the Recovery Housing Program, which is a pilot program helping to increase access to safe transitional housing for young adults in addiction recovery while they rehabilitate and reenter the workforce.
McConnell introduced the CAREER Act of 2025 in February to enhance the workforce reentry and recovery housing programs created by the original law in 2018. Since then, nearly $12.5 million has been given to Kentucky, helping hundreds of residents in recovery from substance use.
