A man is in custody after a standoff near Knottsville, Kentucky, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
Daviess County Sheriff’s Office detectives and the Western Kentucky U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force responded to the 10800 block of Highway 951 near Knottsville, Kentucky, in an attempt to located and arrest 45-year-old Tony Ingram.
He was wanted on several felony charges. Ingram had active warrants for Burglary 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, and Receiving Stolen Property following a June 19th crime spree, in which he allegedly stole a minivan from Evansville, Indiana and then drove the van into Panther Creek in western Daviess County.
Authorities say he then broke into a home on Wayne Bridge Road near Panther Creek Park. He fled the home when the homeowner arrived home from work.
Daviess County Sheriff deputies responded to the break in and were able to identify Ingram as the suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest on Monday. Due to Ingrams violent past including sexual assault convictions, and because he was believed to be armed, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals in apprehending him.
Authorities were searching for Ingram at a residence on Highway 951 when they encountered him at the front door, but he refused to surrender and retreated into the home.
A female who was in the residence with Ingram when investigators arrived was able to leave the home a few minutes after the standoff began. She told law enforcement that Ingram was armed with a handgun and was alone in the house.
Several Kentucky State Troopers and additional U.S. Marshals from Bowling Green and Louisville responded to the scene along with additional Daviess County Sheriff’s Office personnel, Daviess County Emergency Management Agency, and AMR Ambulance Service.
Once police established a perimeter, members of the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Negotiation Unit began working with members of Ingram’s family to establish contact with him.
After approximately four and a half hours, Ingram surrendered without further incident and was taken into custody and transported to the Daviess County Detention Center.
Law enforcement cleared the residence after Ingram was arrested and located a handgun as well as evidence connecting Ingram to the crimes committed on Friday.
