The severe storms that caused damage across Kentucky have led to the issuance of a state of emergency for the commonwealth.
Governor Andy Beshear made the declaration of the state of emergency Tuesday after the storms, which started late Monday in parts of the state, damaged property, and left thousands without power.
Ahead of another round of severe weather, Beshear closed all Executive Branch state office buildings at 1 p.m. Eastern (12 p.m. Central) Tuesday. Beshear also said the Kentucky Emergency Operations Center in Frankfort was activated.
Beshear also activated the state’s price gouging laws. Those laws protect Kentuckians from overpriced goods and services as they clean up and recover from the storms. If Kentucky consumers believe price gouging is taking place, they can report it to the Office of the Attorney General.
