A final pretrial conference date has been set for a Bowling Green man accused of murder and abuse of a corpse.
David Profitt, 26, pleaded not guilty to the charges in October, despite confessing to them following his arrest in August.
In his confession, Profitt admitted to strangling then 22-year-old Alexandra Hemmann to death in their shared apartment on Winners Circle in Bowling Green. He told police he then sexually abused her corpse, stole her cell phone and vehicle, and fled to Indiana.
There, he said he posed as Hemmann to her friends and family via Snapchat messages for the next eight days before he was arrested at a Top Golf in Fishers, Indiana.
At his arraignment on October 30, Profitt pled not guilty to the charges of murder, strangulation, three counts of forgery, abuse of a corpse, theft of property over $1,000, and persistent felony offender.
At Monday’s pretrial conference, Judge Christopher Cohron and the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office scheduled an additional pretrial for July 22. However, they expect it to be the final pretrial before a sentencing hearing or trial date is set.
