
An early morning fire that broke out in the Parkland neighborhood Thursday morning left one person dead.
Officials with the Louisville Fire Department said the fire was reported at 4:19 a.m. in the 700 block of South 33rd Street.
Within three minutes, fire crews arrived and found a heavy fire coming from the front porch and sides of the home. Louisville Fire Department said by the time they got there, the fire had extended to a home next door, causing significant damage.
Firefighters went inside both homes to search for anyone inside and began battling the fire. One person was removed from the main home and was taken to the hospital where they later died.
It took 28 firefighters around 25 minutes to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Louisville’s Arson Unit.
